Monongalia County Commission may be buying a couple help-wanted ads soon.
The commission is seeking a park supervisor to oversee its network of parks across the county, and another director to help plan events at the 4-H Extension building at Mylan Park.
Both hires would report directly to the commission.
“It streamlines the process a bit,” Commissioner Tom Bloom said after Wednesday’s meeting.
The park supervisor would oversee all maintenance and construction projects at Mason-Dixon Historical Park, Camp Muffly, and Chestnut Ridge Park.
The three parks encompass hundreds of acres of green space in distinct locales across the county, and all three are well-used, even in these pandemic days, Bloom said.
The venue manager at the 4-H building would be tasked with generating agribusiness events and endeavors for the site, the commissioner added.
“It’s a great, indoor-outdoor facility, so there are plenty of opportunities for that.”
Plus, the building is already at a point of destination for the region, he said, as it is housed in the complex of Mylan Park.
Commissioners also declared this week National Emergency Telecommunications Week, in honor of the county’s 911 MECCA dispatchers and their work during the pandemic.
