Kenneth E. Groves, 97, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Morgantown Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 25th, 1924, in Valley Point, a son of the late Floyd D. Groves and the late Martha McNair Groves Northan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thurman, Archie, Charles and Donald; and one sister, Freda.
Mr. Groves is survived by his wife of 73 years, Blanche Lyons Groves; his six children: sons, Ronald, John, Kenny Jr. and Don and his wife Carol, and two daughters, Margaret Kiger and her husband Gerald and Jane Stewart and her husband Carroll; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1945 on the USS Chicago and the USS Mobile ships. He was a welder by trade and owned his own business for many years. He loved to take walks and listen to Christian music.
At Mr. Grove’s request, there will be no public services. Following a private funeral service for his immediate family officiated by Pastor Dave Hood, he will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Valley Point.
