Joseph Mascioli

Joseph Michael Mascioli, born Nov. 20, 1956, in Fairmont, passed away on March 26, 2021, in Morgantown, after a long illness, which he faced courageously. In his final days, he and his family received many in-person visits and phone calls, for which all are grateful. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his sons and in peace.

He is survived by his sons, Matthew Mascioli (wife Janet Ha and daughter Jiyon Mascioli), of Seoul, South Korea, Alex Mascioli (partner Emily Isaacs and daughter Lily Mascioli), of Morgantown, and Andrew Mascioli, of Morgantown.

He is also survived by his brother, Pat Mascioli (wife Kelley Mascioli), of Rehoboth, Del.; niece, Melissa Mascioli, of Columbia, S.C.; by his beloved uncle, Roger, and aunt, Sharon Hamilton, of Spelter; and also beloved aunt, Judy Smith, also of Spelter. Very importantly as well, by his cousins, Steve Hamilton, of Spelter, Scott Hamilton, of Rock Hill, S.C., Dawnie Crites, of Fairmont, Debbie Parks, of Clarksburg, and Brenda Truscott, of Easton, Pa. Over many years, his best friend, Mike DeVault, of Morgantown, and very close friends Joe and Theresa Voithofer, of Morgantown, and Dr. David “Doc” Fogarty, Darlene Fogarty and Lucy Pierce, of Bruceton Mills, were close and tremendous in all things.

He was preceded in death by his good friend and mother of his children, Kristin Waldo Mascioli; his father, Joseph Regis Mascioli; mother, Rena Anne Smith Mascioli; aunt, Betty Crites; uncle, Dudley Smith Jr.; and cousin, Dennis Crites.

He received tremendous care from the Hospice team, Dr. Ward Paine and many other medical professionals and was active in youth sports. He had particular fun as director of the Marilla Mustangs football program for several years and as coach of many youth baseball teams in the Valley District Baseball organization.

Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A celebration of life will take place in the coming months with details to be announced.
