Miles “Dick” Lee Jenkins, 89, a lifelong resident of Bull Run, died on March 22, 2021, losing his battle with cancer. He was born March 6, 1932, the son of Forest Fay and Daisy Radabaugh Jenkins

Miles graduated from Masontown High School in 1950 and worked nearly 20 years at Sterling Faucet in Morgantown with a break to serve in the military in 1952. He later worked 24 years as an early hire at the Consol Blacksville #2 mine when it opened and retired in 1994. During his service in the army he fought in the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart medal after being wounded at the battle of Pork Chop Hill. Upon returning to the States, he married Judith Ann Zugar, formerly of Howesville, and they settled in Bull Run as many generations of Jenkins’ before had done. This union resulted in 64 years of marital bliss, three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
During this time, Miles, along with his brother-in-law, built and operated the Moonlight Roller Rink in Masontown for several years, providing a recreational outlet for many area youths. Miles could always be found outdoors tending his large lawn and vegetable garden or cutting timber and chopping firewood by hand for the long winters. Friends and family also benefited from the sawmill Miles operated on his property. He enjoyed feeding the deer, birds and rabbits in the winter, but cursed the squirrels and turkey.
Surviving is his wife, Judith Ann Zugar Jenkins; a sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Richard Shaffer, of Kingwood; three children, Junior Jenkins (Wynne), of Sarver, Pa., Suzanne Metz (Gary Meleady), of Masontown, and Jill Mabie (Mark), of Kingwood; six grandchildren, Whitney Ann Jenkins, Jada Mills, Haley Hillen, Holli Metz, Matthew Mabie and Logan Mabie; and four great-grandchildren, Bodhi, Zayden, Ellie and Ryiah.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Ruth Nicholson and brother-in-law Elmer Nicholson; and brother, Forest “Wimp” Jenkins and sister-in-law Violet Jenkins.
The family would like to thank the Amedisys team for their caring and professional attention to Miles on his final earthly journey.
Friends will be received at the Morgan Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services in the funeral home chapel will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, with Pastor A.C. Mann officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
