Harold Jamison

Harold Lynn Jamison, 85, formerly of New Holland, passed away at the Ware Presbyterian Village Thursday, March 11, 2021.

He was the husband of the late LeAnne Engle Jamison, who passed away March 8, 2012. He was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Morgantown, son of the late Charles Martin and Gladys Iona Zearley Jamison.

He was a member of Keystone Church of Paradise where he was active in the men’s group. He graduated from Morgantown High School where he lettered in football for three years. He attended West Virginia University before entering the U.S. Navy. He served four years on a destroyer in the 7th Fleet during the Lebanon crisis. He returned home and graduated from West Virginia University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration. Professionally, he served as activities director for the American Athletic Union as the director of recreation in Hershey, Pa., and recreation therapist at the Butler and Coatesville VA hospitals. After retirement, he worked as a park ranger. He was a member of the Gen. Adam Stephen Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. Lately, he volunteered as a curt advocate for the Disabled Veterans Association.

Surviving is a step-daughter, Shannon, wife of Todd Myer, of Cochranville; three daughters: Amy Lynn Jamison Paelella, of Lexington, Mass., Megan Cole Jamison Kaufman, of Denver, Colo., Amanda Beth Jamison Abello, of Freedom, Maine; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Jamison Rhoades, of Martinsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, twin sister, Roberta, who lived two weeks, along with an older sister, Delores Jamison Ware; and older brother, John Vernon Jamison.

The family would like to thank Phyllis Whitton for the wonderful care she gave to Lynn over the last several years. Services took place from the Shivery Funeral Home, Christiana, Pa., Monday, March 15. Private interment was in the Millwood Mennonite Cemetery.
