Gary Lynn Cozort, 54, passed away at home March 14, 2021. He was born Aug. 27, 1966.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Sodomick, his father Stanley Cozort (Phyllis), of Richmond, Ind., two brothers, Michael Cozort (Teresa), Kevin Cozort (Charolett), and a very special nephew, Lucas Cozort (Bree), and five additional nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Emmett and Irene Canada, his paternal grandfather, Howard Cozort, and paternal grandmother, Mabel Grush and husband Frank, and several aunts and uncles.
Gary was an avid sports fan and especially loved WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers football and Pirates baseball. He had a love for all sports on TV, including golf. He enjoyed cookouts and picnics with friends and family and going out to eat weekly with his special friends.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Friday, March 19, 2021, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Summers officiating.
All visitors and guests will be asked to properly wear a face covering, socially distance from other households and limit their time to no more than 15 minutes.
Gary’s family would like to extend special thanks to all of the wonderful caregivers who have worked with and cared for Gary over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary’s honor to Monongalia Count Special Olympics, 400 Mylan Park Lane, Morgantown, WV 26501.
