Betty Louise Ralston, 84, passed from this life March 17, 2021. Born in Linn, Gilmer County, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Lovell) Jackson.
Surviving are her brothers, Lowell (Gladys) Jackson, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Duane (Karen) Jackson, of Boaz, Wood County; two stepchildren, Rae Anne (Tom) Ralston Winston and James (Patty) Ralston. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Neil (Dixie) Jackson.
After graduating from Pennsboro High School, Betty Lou attended WVU, earning a master’s degree. She later continued her education, pursuing a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.
Serving both Doddridge and Randolph counties as an Extension (Home Demonstration) agent beginning in 1958, she continued her work with the Extension Service until her retirement as an Extension specialist in 1994.
Betty Lou was a member of numerous professional organizations, serving on committees and boards for several of them. She enjoyed working with young people to help them achieve their goals. She was an avid WVU sports fan and attended both basketball and football games regularly. She also enjoyed traveling, especially with her grandchildren.
