MORGANTOWN – Here is a sampling of bills and resolutions introduced Tuesday, March 2. Local lead sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.
- HB 2815, to require air conditioning on all school buses.
- HB 2840, a four-step phase in state minimum wage hike to $15 an hour by Jan. 1, 2026. Delegate Danielle Walker, D-Monongalia, co-sponsor.
- HB 2856, to require the Division of Highways to develop performance standards and criteria to measure agency performance and to require the division to employ a management information system that will track the division’s past and current progress toward meeting performance standards. Delegate Joe Statler, R-Monongalia, lead sponsor; Delegate John Williams, D-Monongalia, co-sponsor.
- HB 2858, to require the Division of Highways to develop a formula for allocating road funds among districts. Statler, lead sponsor; Williams, co-sponsor.
- HB 2827, to create the felony offense of sexual crimes against animals.
- SB 525, to allow a licensed racetrack to establish a secondary location for racetrack video lottery terminals and racetrack table games at a location within the county as approved by the lottery commission.
- SB 528, to allow counties to implement a 1% consumer sales tax in certain circumstances.
- SJR 11, to propose a constitutional amendment to limit to three consecutive terms the offices of secretary of state, auditor, treasurer, commissioner of Agriculture and attorney general.
