Richard Everson

Richard Lee Everson Sr., 76, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at Preston Memorial Hospital.

Richard was born in Morgantown, on April 22, 1944, a son of the late Ray Cogar and the late Virginia (Everson) Cogar.

He was a loving companion, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his loving companion of over 40 years, Mary Clemens; two stepdaughters, Sue Sisler and James, of Albright, and Debbie Conner and Mark, of Albright; a son, Richard “Ricky” Everson Jr., of North Carolina; a daughter, Tanya Stone, of Reedsville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Cogar; and a half sister, Jane Trent, of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Everson; two brothers, Lawrence Everson and Butch Cogar; and a half-brother, Floyd Everson.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, and from 1 p.m. Monday, March 1, until the 2 p.m. service time with Pastor Marshall Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Masontown.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care Richard received.

Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing six-foot rule will be honored and all guests, whose health allows, are to wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that visitors do not linger at the funeral home after seeing the Everson family.
