John Michael “Mike” Ford, 68, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at home in Morgantown. John Michael was born March 25, 1952, a son of the late Richard and Rose Manuel Ford.
Mike retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Harrison County, and previously worked for HomeMedCo in Fairmont, King Knob Coal Company in Laurel Point and, as a member of the Operating Engineers, helped to build I-79 and I-68 in Monongalia County.
Mike attended Cornerstone CMA in Cheat Lake. He had a love for missions, the Word of God, prayer and often exhorted his church family to spend time in these disciplines. Mike was formerly a lay pastor at Covenant EMC and, as part of their church planting team, helped with Harvest EMC in Jane Lew and Messiah EMC in Wheeling.
Mike loved to tinker and repair things, and he never saw an engine that he couldn’t dismantle and put back together. He would find and adopt many hobby vehicles, including a vintage dump truck, ski boat, farm tractor and various others filling the garage.
He had been married to Amanda Conner Ford for over 42 years. His children are: Sons, Frank, James and Benjamin; and daughter, Michelle. He loved dogs, especially dachshunds, and left Reddi, Milo and Gretchen for the family to love.
At his request, there will be no funeral home visitation and interment will be held privately at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
