REEDSVILLE – The Town of Reedsville reminded residents sidewalks in front of homes must be kept clean by the homeowner.
Mayor Jason Titus said, in a letter from town attorney Mark Gaydos, if council decided to clean the sidewalks, property owners should sign a release.
“We need to reintroduce our ordinance to everyone (property owners) it’s their responsibility,” Councilwoman Renee Stone said. “I wish I had a sidewalk to clean.”
Council members previously considered buying a snow blower and possibly cleaning sidewalks. After they received the information from Gaydos, they decided to send out letters reminding homeowners the sidewalks were their responsibility.
No date was set for pre-bidding on the basketball court in Reedsville Park. Titus said six individuals or companies have expressed interest in the project.
At an earlier meeting, council discussed adding a half-sized basketball court to the park. The current court has space for only one hoop. Council wants to expand the size so another can be added.
Titus said he believes the project would cost about $15,000. He said it would involve removing some trees and the purchase of poles and concrete.
Council members also discussed adding another street light on Valley Street and the purchase of a motor for the salt spreader.
Titus said he recently bought a motor for his spreader for $400 and $20 shipping. He said the company he bought it from told him there were only eight motors left. Titus said the motors usually cost about $789.
Council voted to check on a pole and transformer for the light and made a motion to purchase a motor for the spreader at the cost of $400, plus $20 shipping, if the motor will fit the spreader.
Titus said there has still been no filing for the position of mayor or recorder. Recorder Sandy Kisner filed for a position on the town council. Filing for council were incumbents Greg Burke, Jeff Stone, Renee Stone, and Sandy Kisner. Also filing for council were Steve Adams and Trellis Smith.
The next meeting of the Reedsville council will be 6:30 p.m. on March 9.
