MORGANTOWN – Here is a sampling of bills and resolutions introduced Wednesday, Feb. 24. Local lead sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.
- SB 434, to require law-enforcement training to include standards and procedures for ongoing training for investigating sexual assault cases involving adult victims. Sen. Mike Caputo, D-Marion, co-sponsor.
- HB 2717, to authorize the Public Service Commission to reduce rates for residential utility customers who are residents of a community with fewer than 1,000 residents. Delegate Phil Mallow, R-Marion, lead sponsor.
- HB 2724, to grant the West Virginia State Police an annual salary increase equal to $1,500. Mallow, co-sponsor.
- HB 2725, to increase funding for the Office of Oil and Gas by requiring an annual oversight fee of $100 for each well, with any excess to be used to plug orphaned wells. Delegate Evan Hansen, D-Monongalia, sponsor.
- HB 2757, to create the Clean Drinking Water Act. Hansen, lead sponsor; Delegates Danielle Walker, John Williams, Barbara Evans Fleischauer, all D-Monongalia, co-sponsors.
- SJR 10, to propose an amendment to the Constitution to stagger House of Delegates terms and establish a 12-year service limit.
- HB 2720, from the Department of Transportation, to allow the DOT to establish a merit based personnel administration system for all of the department’s employees.
- HB 2741, from the Division of Motor Vehicles, to expand the alcohol test and lock program to offenders with a drug-related offense.
