Josephine Virginia Shumaker, 92, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at her residence in Kingwood, with family by her side.
The daughter of Leopold and Virginia Emerick Madlener, Josie was raised from birth by Herman and Anna Allgauer, of Manown. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Layne Alan Shumaker.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Terry Wigner, of Titusville, Fla. She had lived the past five years in LaVale, Md., in the care of William and Alice Neely. She was a loved and devoted member of the Allgauer family her entire life.
A graduate of the Morgantown Business College, she worked for the Preston County Coal and Coke Corporation for the next eight years. She retired from WorkForce West Virginia, in Kingwood, after 30 years. Earning the W.Va. Employee of the Year award, she was also nominated for the national award.
She loved playing bingo and being with family and friends.

Funeral services, with Chaplin Dennis Lusin officiating at Browning Funeral Home are private. A burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood.
