Nellie Carmella (Reppy) Squarcette, 98, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, at Stonerise Morgantown, formally known as Mapleshire Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Nellie was born on May 26th, 1922, in Shinnston, the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose M. (Oliverio) Reppy.
She attended Morgantown High School where she excelled in math and writing. During World War II, she went to work in Zellers Glass Factory to aide in the war efforts. She went on to marry Peter Squarcette in Morgantown and start a family. Nellie was a wonderful mother, homemaker and cook. She always hosted memorable holiday and family gatherings and loved nothing more than being surrounded by her large family. In her free time, she also very much enjoyed playing canasta with her “Marilla Ladies.”
Nellie is survived by her son, Peter Timothy “Tim” Squarcette; grandchildren, Traci Lynn Squarcette, Julie Squarcette Ruiz (Steven) and Andrea Taylor Mullenax (Steve); and great-grandchildren: Seth Ruiz, Blake Ruiz, Ashley Ruiz, Olivia Squarcette and Emilia N. Taylor.
In addition to her parents, Antonio and Rose Reppy, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Squarcette; her daughter, Kathy Custer; daughter-in-law, Linda Ruth Squarcette; and siblings, Sarah Campione, Phillip Reppy, Sam Reppy and Henry Reppy.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no public services will be held at this time. She will be laid to rest with her husband at East Oak Grove, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
