John “Mitch” Karl Mitchell II, 66, died on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at Mon Health Medical Center, in Morgantown.
Mitch was born on Dec. 13, 1954, in Maryland, and was a son of the late John Karl Mitchell I and Josephine (Morgan) Mitchell.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1973-1977. He had worked as a laborer at the Albright Power Plant. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing.
Mitch is survived by his fiancée, Martha Marshall, of Kingwood; three sons, Jonathan Mitchell and wife Jane, of Australia, Chris Marshall and wife Susie, of Allentown, Pa., and Brad Marshall and wife, Shirl, of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Jennifer Mitchell, of Florida; one uncle, Andy Lipscomb, that he called Dad, of Terra Alta; seven grandchildren; and three beloved cats, Lady, Molly and Jack.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jay Mitchell; one sister, Andrea Lockwood; and one aunt, Betty Lipscomb.
Graveside services will be conducted at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, where military honors will be accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard. Social distancing and masks are required. Arrangements are under the direction of Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel.
