WHEELING, W.Va. — University High’s Riley Nett and Timmy Bailey were named Class AAA first team all-state by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Isaac Lewis was named to the second team and J.M. Jones was honorable mention for the Hawks. Morgantown’s Azain Uquily was named the captain to the second team, and Caden Carpenter and Massimo Darmelio were honorable mentions. Preston’s Jaytee Flores and Andy Forman were also honorable mention.

After losing nine seniors from last year’s Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Class 5A championship squad, many would have thought the Wheeling Park boys’ soccer team would have more of a rebuilding year.

However, that was not the case for the Patriots, as they turned in a 15-4-1 record.

Behind much of that success was midfield senior Coleman Meredith.
Netting 28 goals while also dishing out eight assists, Meredith has been named the first team all-state captain.

In the Patriots’ 19 games this year, Meredith found the back of the net in 17 of those outings.
