West Virginia floor team ranks No. 24

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia gymnastics team continues to rank in the top 25 of the Road to Nationals Rankings on floor exercise.

The Mountaineers (0-2, 0-2) rank in the top 25 on floor for the second consecutive week, sharing the No. 24 spot with Towson. WVU earned its event ranking based on a season average of 48.950. West Virginia sits just outside the top 25 on balance beam at No. 27 (48.613 avg.). WVU also ranks No. 33 on uneven bars (48.600 avg.) and is tied at No. 35 on vault (48.675 avg.).

Tied for No. 26 in last week’s rankings, the Mountaineers fell to No. 30 (194.838 avg.) overall following a 195.850-194.775 loss to then-No. 3 Oklahoma, inside the Lloyd Noble Center, in Norman, Okla.

Individually, McKenna Linnen and junior Kendra Combs are nationally ranked inside the top 60 on floor. The duo is currently tied at No. 52 after scoring matching 9.85s for the second consecutive week to lead the Mountaineers’ floor rotation.

WVU continues to rank No. 4 overall in the Big 12. The Mountaineers also sit at No. 4 in all four events, with the exception of the floor lineup checking in at No. 3.

Linnen and Combs owns the team’s top conference ranking and is tied at No. 3 on floor. Sophomore Emily Holmes-Hackerd also checks in at No. 8 (9.838 avg.) in this week’s rankings after matching her career-high score of 9.85 last weekend.
