The candidacy application period for the 2021 Star City Municipal Election closed Jan. 30, but that does not mean all candidacy applications have been received.
Like applications that were physically handed in, mail-in applications also had a deadline of Jan. 30, meaning the applications had to be postmarked – not received by the Star City Business Office – by that date.
The town has confirmed 10 candidates so far in the 2021 Star City Municipal Election.
Star City’s current Mayor, Herman Reid, will be running unopposed pending potential mail-in applications.
Star City’s current Recorder, Steven A. Blinco, will also be running unopposed pending potential mail-in applications.
Two current Star City Council members, Sharon Doyle and Todd Gregg, are running for reelection. There are five council seats up for election.
Other candidates for the five positions are Dale Brown Sr., Lynette DeChristopher, Grant Dovey, Gregory Epps, Tina Talerico-Iquinto and Cindy Baniak-Ulrich.
The Town of Star City’s Municipal Election is scheduled for June 8.
This article will be updated as more information regarding mail-in candidacy applications becomes available.
