Dale Edward Newcome, 82, of Tunnelton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at Mon Health Medical Center.
Dale was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Kingwood, a son of the late Harris B. and Florence (Sanders) Newcome.
He was a 1956 graduate of Kingwood High School, a member of the Boilermakers Local #667 in Winfield for over 40 years. He enjoyed WVU and Steeler football, basketball and oldies music. He was known in Preston County as “Baby Buckwheat.”
He is survived by one daughter, Teresa Layton, of Kingwood; one grandson, Andrew Layton Donk, of Kingwood; two brothers, John Newcome, of Pennsylvania, Mike Newcome, of Cross Lanes; three sisters, Wyonetta Greaser, of Tunnelton, Brenda Brewer, of Fairmont, and Cecilia McDonald, of Kingwood; one brother-in-law, James Zuchowski Sr., of Campground; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Ann (Zuchowski) Newcome, and one brother, Ralph Newcome.
Family and friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price St. from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, and from noon Monday, Feb. 1 until the time of the funeral in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. with Pastor Barry M. Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are required.
