George Joseph Raddish Jr., 70, of Star City, passed away Friday evening, Jan. 15, 2021 at WVU Medicine — J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1950, in Westover, a son of the late George Joseph Raddish Sr., and the late Virginia Marie Gorzek Raddish.
George is survived by his two children, Stacy and Chad Raddish; two grandchildren, Alexander Weaver and Ashton Wilson; and a sister, Debbie Raddish Benson and her husband Russell.
George was retired from the Humphrey Coal Mine and was a member of the UMWA, where he served as the recording secretary for Local Union 1058, District 31. He was the former owner of Town Hill Grocery in Morgantown and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
He loved to bowl, hunt and fish. He enjoyed taking his 1923 T-Bucket to car shows and belonged to the Dream Machine Car Club.
Friends may join the family to honor George’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21. Guests at the funeral home are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and limit your stay with the family 15 minutes or less.
As per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Following the visitation, George will be cremated and will be inurned privately with Full Military Honors along with his family at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
