MORGANTOWN — Delegate Danielle Walker, D-Monongalia, has been appointed to serve two Democratic Party leadership positions in the House of Delegates.
A release from the House Democrats announced that Minority Leader Doug Skaff, D-Kanawha, has named Walker as minority vice chair of the Health and Human Resources Committee and the minority chair of the Committee on Prevention and Treatment of Substance Abuse.
Walker previously served as minority vice-chair of the Committee on Prevention and Treatment of Substance Abuse.
Walker said, “I appreciate the faith and confidence that Minority Leader Skaff has placed in me. This has been a hard year for many West Virginians, and I am eager to get to work to help strengthen and heal our state.”
The release observed, “The work of these committees will be especially critical as West Virginia looks at how to help our state’s residents recover from a global health pandemic while we continue our work to address the substance use epidemic plaguing our communities.”
Skaff said, “I am pleased that Delegate Walker will serve in these leadership roles to work on the public health issues we are facing in West Virginia. We need strong, passionate individuals to focus on the health and welfare of West Virginians, and I know that Danielle will continue to be that voice at the Legislature.”
