Violet Jane Groves, 87, of Albright (Lenox community), passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Stonerise (Pine Ridge) Healthcare in Kingwood.
The daughter of the late Hobert M. and Fannie Irene Titchenell Benson, she was born July 10, 1933, in Bruceton Mills.
Jane was a graduate of Bruceton High School and had been employed at Kenny Shoe Plant in Kingwood and Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta.
She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Susan Kay and David Vallelonga and Sandy and Ed Rawls; two sons, David Groves and Neal Groves and his spouse Andrea; a brother, Hobert (Buddy) Benson; a sister, Kay Furman; grandchildren: Thomas Schmidle, Alyscenne and Anthony Vallelonga, Holly Hartsell, Jessie Groves, Jessica Peaslee, Darron Pipkins, Tammy Taylor, Trent and Lyle Bishop and Tiffany Groves; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Groves, July 23, 2019; a son, Kevin Don Groves; an infant daughter, Geraldine; and sister, Joann Benson.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside memorial service at the Lenox Memorial (Lutheran) Cemetery, Albright (Lenox), at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11 with the Rev. Luke McLean officiating.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the guidelines by the CDC and the governor, face masks and social distancing are required.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Stonerise Healthcare for their care and compassion during Jane’s stay and illness.
