Clarence Shaffer

Clarence “Junior” Shaffer, 68, went to be an angel with God. He was a wonderful husband, father and Pappa to his wife Debbie, of 48 years, and his children, Michael and Terri Shaffer, Dena and Eric Larew, Nichole and Jason Carrico, nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

He was born March 9, 1952, in Rowlesburg, a son of the late Clarence and Myrtle Funk Shaffer.

He never knew a stranger and never saw a child he didn’t talk or play with. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed camping and loved softball. He was a retired coal miner from Leer Coal in Grafton. He loved being a coal miner and was a very hard worker. May he walk with the angels now and watch over us.

He is also survived by five brothers, David Shaffer and wife Darlene, of Bruceton Mills, Mike Shaffer and wife Nancy, of Terra Alta, Raymond Wagner and James Wagner and wife Sandra, all of Rowlesburg, and Ralph Wagner and wife Daphene, of Reedsville; and two sisters, Beverly Shaffer, of Rowlesburg, and Tammy Wagner, of Terra Alta.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Shaffer and a sister, Clara Wiles.

Browning Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation service.

A celebration of life for Clarence will be held at a later date.
