Jack Eugene Coster, 84, made his joyful entrance into heaven and the Lord’s loving embrace on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020.

Jack was born in Nebraska City, Neb., on Dec. 25, 1935, to the late Guy Robert and Mildred Cavender Coster.

Jack earned his Bachelor of Science degree in forestry from the University of Montana, his master’s and PhD in forest entomology from Texas A&M University and was a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters. Jack worked for many years in forest research and served as a forestry professor at Stephen F. Austin University and West Virginia University. He greatly enjoyed reading, travel, photography, ham radio, reading, talking with friends old and new, reading, bugs, trees, music, ideas and discovering our amazing universe. And also reading. Above all, Jack passionately loved God and serving Him however called. He would want each of you to find a joyful relationship with Jesus as Savior.

He was wedded to Lola Peterson on May 28, 1955. They were blessed with four children: Cheryl Boden (Jeff), Kathleen Coster, Janice Coster (Steve Crouse) and Neil Coster (Angie). His family included eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved, respected and adored. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mildred, as well as his sister, Dorisann Coster Gardner.

In accordance with his wishes, Hastings Funeral Home/Omega Crematory will be providing cremation services.

A private family graveside service will be held at East Oak Grove Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held at another date to be announced.
