Leona Fletcher Sims, 85, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Leona was born Dec. 31, 1934 in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Ashby Phillip Abe and Katherine Davis Abe.
Leona had been employed by the Monongalia County Board of Education and had worked in the housekeeping department of Monongalia General Hospital. She was Pentecostal by faith.
Leona enjoyed her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren.
Leona is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Virgil) Nicholson, of Morgantown; two sons, David (Crystal) Marshall Fletcher, of Pennsylvania, and John Calvin (Carrie) Sims, of Morgantown; two stepdaughters, Kathy Kerns, of Morgantown and Katherine (Henry) Davis, of Colorado; two daughters-in-law, Susie Fletcher and Kay Fletcher; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Leona was preceded in death by her first husband, William Moser Fletcher; second husband, Luther Dale Sims; three sons, Anthony William Fletcher, Charles Dean, Fletcher and Glenn Steven Fletcher; one sister, Helen Allen; and one brother, Steven Abe.
Private services were held at Nicholson Chapel Church on Tuesday with the Rev. Kenny Reed officiating. Burial followed at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
