Sue Ellen Tennant, 81, of Mount Clare (Harrison County), passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 17, 2020, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Clarksburg on Aug. 22, 1939, a daughter of the late Charles William Tarleton and Martha Ellen (Rice) Tarleton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin O. Tennant, on Feb. 15, 2008.
She is survived by two sisters, Lois J. Forinash, of Mount Clare, and Madonna L. Roach, of Lost Creek; her brother-in-law, Nelson “Red” Tennant and his wife Sue, of Fairview; her sister-in-law, Marty Tarleton, of Lima, Ohio; and nieces and nephews including, Chris May, of Mount Clare, Adam Roach, of Fairmont, Terry Tennant and Randy Tennant, of Blacksville, Kathy Abruzzino,of Farmington, Carol Stimmel, of Harrod, Ohio, and Karen Huster, of Lima, Ohio; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Judy May, of Mount Clare, and Duane Booth, of Parrish, Fla..
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Scott E. Tarleton.
Sue graduated from Shinnston High School in 1957. She retired from Verizon on Jan. 31, 1992, after 30 years of service. She was a member of Ellenton United Methodist Church and the Elks Club.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave. Bridgeport, from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening, Jan. 14, 2021, where a celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Phil Wayman presiding. Sue will be laid to rest next to her husband, Marvin, in Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, Fla.
