Virginia Carolyn Read, 81, of Texarkana, Ark., and formerly of Louin, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 in a local hospital due to complications from COVID-19.
Mrs. Read was born Jan. 13, 1939, in Louin, Miss. She was a retired administrative assistant, music therapist but best of all she was a loving and caring mother. She always put the needs of her family before her own. She enjoyed watching her favorite professional NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and cheering for the “Mighty Mountaineers” from West Virginia University each time they played. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Calvin Cotton Brister, and her brother, Fred Read Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Dona Brister, of Texarkana, Texas, and Karen Leigh Brister, of Louin, Miss.; one granddaughter, Robyn Noel Brister, of Louin, Miss.; and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19.
