Norma Jean Ammons, born March 29, 1930, went to her heavenly home Dec. 11, 2020.
She is survived by three sons, two daughters, 11 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; John “J.D.” Ammons, of Crossroads (Summers County), and family John and Jennifer Ammons and Kaitlyn, Dave and Jess Ammons, Alivia, Nate and Tristan, Rojack and Lisa Ammons, Abbey and Chase, Joe Sollars, Joleigh and Noah; Danney and Janet Ammons, of Fairview, and his family, Jennifer and Steve Malnick, Ashton, Bailey and Cole, Jeremy and Christina Ammons and Kinzie; Jack and Robin Ammons, of Crossroads and family, Jodi Coker, Larkin and Cantrell, Dan and Whitney Ammons McWilliams, Haven and Dax; Linda and Jim Walker, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and family, Jaime and Brent Hardin, Cooper, Ben and Andi; Penny and Kevin Cross, of Morgantown and family, Bengy Swanson, Corey and Jeff Curran, Adalyn, Harper and Colton, Heather and Brian St. Clair, Kohlton and Nevaeh. Also surviving are three sisters, Arlene Donaldson, of Carmichaels, Pa., Colleen Pierce, of Blacksville, and Judy and Jack Tucker, of Hagans; two brothers, Jim and Karen Haught, of Sebring, Fla. and Ike and Sandra Haught, of Okeechobee, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murle Ammons; her parents, Zeb and Flossie Haught; daughter-in-law, Sally Ammons, granddaughter, Lisa Ammons Sollars; great-grandson, Tyler Ammons; great-granddaughter, Hazel Ammons McWilliams; two brothers, Merle Haught and Billy Haught; and four sisters, Marion Sachetti, Dortha Mae Chiater, Mary Jo Weaver and Joyce Haught.
Norma, “Nan” as she was known to most, only saw the best in everyone. She loved to cook and was labeled as a “good cooker” by her family. She also loved to dance and did so at every occasion. She learned to clog and performed for various groups.
She enjoyed overseeing the Haught Family Reunion, which she did for several years.
She worked various jobs. She was co-owner of the first florist shop in Blacksville. Later in life, she served as a caretaker to those who needed her. She was a true inspiration to her entire family, including her extended “Haught” family.
Serving as pall bearers will be: John R. Ammons, David Ammons, Rojack Ammons, Jeremy Ammons and Bengy Swanson.
Norma loved flowers but would prefer that memorial donations be made to the Union Baptist Church c/o John Ammons, 6 Zeb Haught Road Wana, WV 26590.
