Shirley Ann Jones, 77, of Wadestown, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2020 at Mon Health Medical Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1943, daughter of the late Charles H. and Freda (Haught) Phillips.
She and John celebrated 55 years of marriage. Shirley retired after teaching 30 years at Wadestown and Mason Dixon Elementary. Shirley was a life time member of the Wadestown United Methodist Church and a past Noble Grand with over 50 years of service in the Golden Glow Rebekah Lodge. Shirley supported the Battelle District Fair with her hard work organizing gates and the fairbook.
Shirley is survived by her husband, John W. Jones; and their four children: Kevin Jones, of Wadestown, Karen and Jim Decker, of Fairmont, Kathy and Ronnie Keener, of Pentress; Kristi and Kevin Chisler, of Wadestown, Pa., and her sister, Carol Phillips. Shirley was a proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Jonathan and Kayla Decker, Zackary, Alicia and Trenton Keener and Tyler and Ashley Chisler. She was especially proud of her large extended Jones and Phillips family.
Mrs. Jones was preceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Freda Phillips; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Patty Phillips; and granddaughter, Kayla Decker.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
