Carl Anthony Straub, of Maidsville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, at his residence. He was born on Nov. 5, 1938, in Morgantown, the son of the late John Lee and Velia (Sampoalesy) Straub.
Carl worked in WVU’s Physical Plant for 30 years. Through the years, he also worked at glass factories in Morgantown. His hobbies included watching Western shows, NASCAR, WVU football and basketball and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Cost) Straub; sons, Carl Anthony Straub Jr. and wife Tammy and John Dominick Straub; grandchildren, Jakob and Scott Straub; niece, Lori Willard and family; and close family friend, Dorothy McDermott and family.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by siblings, James Straub, William James, Robert James, David James, Lafayette James and Earl Weibel (who were all raised as brothers); and aunts Marie Weibel and Priscilla James.
Although guests are invited to come visit, it is required, per the governor and CDC pandemic guidelines, that all visitors wear face masks and practice social distancing. Friends and family will be received at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Ave., Morgantown, from 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7 until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Father John McDonough as Celebrant. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
