Frank Edward “Ed” Snider Jr., 70, of Independence, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2020 at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1950, in Morgantown, a son of the late Frank Snider Sr. and Audra Henderson Snider.
Ed was a member of the UMWA Local 1702 and started his mining career at Pursglove in 1970 and retired from Blacksville #2 mine in 2006 after 36 years. He was also a former member of the Morgantown Elks Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and watching football. Most of all, he relished spending time with his five granddaughters.
He is survived by his sons, Eddie Snider and Chad Snider and wife Jamie; daughter, Sherelle Hollinger and husband Dave; his five granddaughters, Adasyn Hollinger, Makarah Hollinger, Hadyn Snider, Ava Snider and Macie Keechel; and his former wife, Regina Snider.
Honoring Ed’s wishes, cremation is being arranged by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
