MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The 15th-ranked West Virginia men’s basketball team is facing its second scheduling change in three days.
The school announced Thursday that the home opener against Youngstown State on Dec. 2 was postponed due to the Penguins pausing team activities related to COVID-19.
The release said the two schools were working to reschedule the game with a mutually agreeable date in December. The game is the final one in a three-year deal. Youngstown State is coached by former WVU assistant Jerrod Calhoun.
The Mountaineers are still scheduled to open the season against Northern Iowa, at 2 p.m. on Nov. 25, in the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Panthers were announced as a last-second replacement for Texas A&M, which opted out of the tournament late Tuesday.
