Charles Beatty

Charles Eugene Beatty (Chuck or Doogie), 73, of Heathsville, Va., passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, Va. He was born Jan. 6, 1947, the son of the late Junior Paul and Katherine Louise (Pickenpaugh) Beatty.

Charles served in the U.S. Army and then went on to work at Verizon for 30 years. He was a devout Christian by faith. His favorite hobbies included fishing, crabbing, hunting and golfing. He enjoyed cooking and had a lifelong love for the state of West Virginia. Also, throughout his life, he expressed his love for his family, with a special love for his grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Alice (Robey) Beatty; his children, Brendan Beatty, his wife, Stephanie and daughter, Bevin Beatty; stepchildren, Donna Garner and Mark Garner and wife Amy; his grandchildren, Sierra, Gage, Noah and Madison Beatty; Brian Eichmann, Luke and Dylan East; and Emily and Ryan Garner; his great-grandchild, Kayson Beatty; and siblings, Linda Sue Morrell and husband Joseph Douglas and Kathy Jay Wasco.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles’ memory to Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital either online or mailed directly to bsvaf.org\supporthospice or Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation, 5008 Monument Avenue, 2nd Floor, Richmond, VA 23230.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Graveside funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at Zion Cemetery, over Cheat, with the Rev. Joe Lamm and Pastor Ross Glotfelty officiating with internment to follow.

Although guests are invited to come visit, it is required, per the Governor and CDC pandemic guidelines, that all visitors wear face masks and practice social distancing.
