MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — 11:08 p.m.: With a jumbled mess at the top of the Big 12, Saturday’s game between WVU and Texas could play a role in what teams make it to Dallas for the Big 12 championship. Lee Corso just picked the Mountaineers to pull the upset, although the Longhorns are 5-point favorites less than an hour to kickoff.
12:00 p.m.: Joe Biden wins the election, so ABC elects for that coverage. Game is on ESPN News for those looking.
12:11 p.m.: WVU’s defense has another bad start on the road as Texas drives right down the field and scores in seven plays, including two third down conversion. The Mountaineers trail 7-0.
12:19 p.m.: And the Mountaineers respond quickly after Leddie Brown caps the drive with 12-yard touchdown run. The big play was a 38-yard pass from Jarret Doege to Winston Wright on 3rd and long. Game tied at 7-7.
12:26 p.m.: WVU’s defense responds and forces a punt, but the Mountaineers will need to go 97 yards after a punt is downed at their own 3.
12:32 p.m.: Mountaineers can’t capitalize ans go three-and-out. The Longhorns will take over on the WVU side of the field looking to take the lead.
12:39 p.m.: A missed holding call didn’t matter as Tony Fields’ hit stops Texas on 4th down and WVU takes over.
12:54 p.m.: The first quarter ends with a stop by the WVU defense on third down, but the Longhorns will likely kick a field goal when action picks back up.
12:59 p.m.: Back at it, and Cameron Dicker nails a 34-yard field goal to put the Longhorns up 10-7.
1:11 p.m.: Alec Sinkfield is struggling in the punt return game, that’s back-to-back weeks he’s had a muff but was recovered by a teammate.
1:46 p.m.: WVU’s offense is all out of whack and the defense is hanging on, as it looks like Texas will try to add another field goal just before the half.
1:52 p.m.: Dicker misses the 48-yard attempt and WVU will trail by just three, 10-7, at halftime. I think Neal Brown is happy to trail by only three in a half that seemed like it was dominated by the Longhorns.
2:20 p.m.: A promising drive ends in three points for the Mountaineers to open the second half as Casey Legg knocks through 24-yard field goal.
2:30 p.m.: On Texas’ two touchdown drives, third-down conversions have been an issue for WVU’s defense. Sam Ehlinger hits Jake Smith for a 33-yard touchdown. Longhorns lead 17-10.
2:53 p.m.: Winston Wright drops a pass in the end zone but gathers in it for what was called a touchdown, but after further review, it was ruled the ball hit the ground. Next play, Doege is sacked and Legg knocks in a field goal to make it 17-13 Texas.
3:02 p.m.: Could be a big swing here as a backward pass is recovered by Alonzo Addae. Play is under review and it’s reversed. Texas keeps it.
