George Vargo

George Vargo, 79, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday Nov. 3, 2020, at Mon Health Medical Center from failing health for the past several months. He was born May 25, 1941, in Morgantown, a son of the late Mike and Mary Vargo.

George worked as a supervisor at Mylan Pharmaceuticals and also owned and operated Big Boy Sharpening in Westover. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, collecting movies and telling jokes. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Star City.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carol Vargo; sister, Dolly Vargo; sister-in-law, Elaine Stahl; and several nieces, nephews and many great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mike and Mary Vargo, George was preceded in death by his siblings, Mike Vargo, Andy Vargo, Frank Vargo, John Vargo, Mary Feathers and Margaret Pfalzgraf.

Friends will be received at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church from 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Fr. Brian Crenwelge as celebrant. Following the services, George will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery.

Face coverings will be required along with proper social distancing when attending the visitation and services.
