MONTCALM — Daniel Gorbey rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns and also had a touchdown reception to lead 14th-ranked Clay-Battelle to a 44-16 victory against Montcalm on Friday.
Gorbey carried 21 times and scored on runs of 1, 30 and 46 yards.
“Daniel had a really big game for us,” C-B head coach Ryan Wilson said.
Cooper Watson also added 40 yards rushing and two scores and also threw the touchdown pass to Gorby.
Montcalm (1-8) trailed, 22-16, early in the fourth quarter, before the Cee-Bees (3-1) sealed the game.
“We seemed a little slow out there and so the kids really had to dig in,” Wilson said. “We got a big defensive stop and then got our offense going. The kids responded and really played a good second half.”
C-B, which hosts Hundred next week, is trying to get back into the state playoffs for the first time since 2014, when the Cee-Bees reached the state semifinals.
