MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — For the first time in program history, the West Virginia volleyball team checks in at No. 15 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Rankings, which was released Wednesday.
Without full participation from the conferences, the AVCA is releasing only the top-15 teams each week instead of 25. The Mountaineers are one of four Big 12 teams ranked inside this week’s poll.
WVU (5-3) is riding a four-match win streak. The last time the Mountaineers won five or more conference matches was in 2017, when they won 21 matches and advanced to the semifinals of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
Big 12 foe Texas ranks No. 1, followed by Baylor — WVU’s next opponent — at No. 2. Kentucky, Florida and Notre Dame round out the top five.
Louisville and Texas A&M are tied at No. 6, and Georgia Tech sits at No. 8. Missouri checks-in at No. 9, followed by Pitt at No. 10.
