As an extension of the Canvas Project, Morgantown Mall’s facade is now a little brighter.

Through the project, local artists have a space to showcase their art within prominent areas of Washington Prime Group town centers across the country.

“Local artists make our community vibrant,” said Felicia Posey, general manager at Morgantown Mall. “Their use of subjects, color, texture and composition awaken a sense of curiosity and connection to the world around us. The Canvas Project supports our local arts culture, while providing an opportunity for our community to grow together.”

Morgantown Mall wanted this artwork to be highly visible to the community and guests. Because of that, a mural with vibrant blues and golds is situated at one of the most traveled mall entrances at the food court.

Morgantown Mall has worked closely with business owner Justin Papania and graphic designer Matt Parsons. The mural’s concept is meant to encompass the colors most associated with Morgantown and to mimic the mountains that surround the area.

Ollie’s opens today

Morgantown Mall welcomes Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Inc.  as the newest addition to the mall’s  selection of options for guests. The discount retailer specializes in closeout and overstock merchandise. Ollie’s will open at 9 a.m. today.

To celebrate the opening of Ollie’s, Morgantown Mall will host a Community Day Celebration. Guests who attend the grand-opening of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet can participate in family entertainment from Miss Pockets and a pumpkin patch for the little ones from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Earlier this year, Morgantown Mall welcomed Dunham’s Sports in a 71,032-square-foot space, along with Appalachian Axe, a local, veteran-owned ax-throwing entertainment concept. In addition, WVU Medicine has repurposed the former Sears location at Morgantown Mall as a logistics, distribution and fulfillment center serving the broader WVU Medicine network.

In the continued need to address COVID-19, the mall has  implemented additions to the code of conduct, effective immediately and until further notice.

These additions include the following guidelines:

  • Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet  from other people.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover in accordance with state and local guidelines.
  • Do not gather in groups.
  • Adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies.
  • Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, recommendations and mandates regarding COVID-19.

The code of conduct is posted at the mall and available online.

Morgantown Mall’s  cleaning practices will  continue many times per day, including  disinfecting. Hand sanitizer dispensers are  in highly-trafficked areas for public use.
