13,000 vote early in Monongalia County

With six days of early voting in the books, 13,511 county residents, or 18.1% of registered voters, have cast ballots ahead of Election Day.

Early voting will continue from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.  through Saturday at the following locations:

  • Mountaineer Mall, 5000 Green Bag Road, Unit D-20, Morgantown
  • Mason-Dixon Park, 79 Buckeye Road, Core
  • WVU Alumni Center, 1 Alumni Drive, Morgantown
  • Fort Pierpont, Suite #102, 200 Fort Pierpont Drive, Morgantown

Today is the last day to request an absentee ballot by mail.

Applications must be in the Monongalia County Clerk’s office by the close of business today. Postmarks for applications are not accepted.

Clerk Carye Blaney recommends anyone wishing to request a ballot use the online application system located at sites.omnibal lot.us/54/absentee/app/ home.

 Additionally, you can email applications to monongaliacounty@wvsos .com or fax it to 304-291-7233.

Blaney said the clerk’s office has processed more than 10,500 absentee applications. More than 8,000 of those ballots, or about 76%, have been returned.

For those voters who did not vote early and need to return their absentee ballot, the local postal service will  operate a drive-thru  from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday to receive and postmark the ballots for area voters.

  This will take place at the Morgantown Carrier Annex,  300 Postal Plaza, Morgantown. Signs in the parking lot will direct customers to a location at the front of the building.

After this Friday, the only return option for absentee ballots will be by mail or hand-delivery to the clerk’s office from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Monday.
