ALPINE LAKE — The gathering was smaller but the goodwill expressed toward Preston County’s businesses was large as ever Thursday night.
The occasion was the Preston County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner. Generally it’s a large affair with upwards of a hundred people, held in the spring.
In COVID America, it was a socially distanced, invitation only event held amid the changing leaves of autumn at Alpine Lake Resort, in Terra Alta.
But members were still celebrated and the annual awards given out.
The Business of the Year was Visit Mountaineer Country Convention and Visitors Bureau.
High Ground Brewing, of Terra Alta, received the Social Buzz Award.
Long-time Kingwood business Preston Silver Eagle, now in its third generation of the Peddicord family, took home the Legacy Award. At the opposite end of the spectrum, I Am Fit received the New Business of the Year Award.
Camp Dawson Event Center was honored with the Sheila C. Haney Ambassador Award, named for the late Chamber director.
Non-Profit of the Year was Friends of the Cheat.
Special recognition was also given to Chamber Board Members Jessica Lipscomb and Kerry Gnik.
