Robert Harrison Goff Jr, 77, of Rowlesburg, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at home with loving family by his side.
He was born March 22, 1943, in Rowlesburg, a son of late Robert H. Sr. and Rosella Hartsell Goff.
Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Northern Railroad and the WV State Road DOH as a foreman for the Albright Station, was the fire chief for the Rowlesburg VFD for several years, the town cop and served as a councilman. He also was a member of the VFW Post 3008 in Rowlesburg.
He is survived by his companion of 31 years, Peggy Helmick; the mother of his children, Emma Jean Goff; a son, Robert Goff III and wife Tina, of Independence; a daughter, Paulette Nice, of Rowlesburg; stepdaughter, Theresa Bolyard and husband Aaron, of Rowlesburg; seven grandchildren, R.T. (Lesa), Alek, Joseph, Jocie (Craig), Taya (Charlie), Brandon and Lester; and five great grandchildren, Caroline “Little Face,” Sadie Mae “Bright Eyes,” Ezra “Bubber,” Braeden and Alea.
He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Terry and Dick Goff and three sisters, Honey Howdershelt, Patricia Likens and Judy Likins.
A private service for the family will be held at a later date.
