Doris Lorraine Marshall-McDaniel, 82, of Moatsville, died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at her home.
Doris was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Feb. 15, 1938, a daughter of the late William Bowman and Evelyn (Henschel) Marshall.
She earned her undergraduate degree in teaching at the New York University, her undergraduate degree in psychology at Queens College and her master’s degree at Bernard College. She was a schoolteacher in New York, then taught at the Hopi Indian Reservation in Phoenix. Doris was a member of the Fort Butler VFW #826 Auxiliary in Kingwood, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion, both in Phoenix and the Eastern Star. Those who knew Doris knew how she liked her jewelry, furs, glitter and bling, traveling, cruises, shopping and talking with friends.
She is survived by her very special friend and caregiver, Harry “Hotrod” Lee Bolyard; special friend, Janice Menear; caregiver, Lisa Casteel; and nephew and spouse, John and Maureen Wenburg, of St. Louis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everts Hardin “Mac” McDaniel, in 2009.
A graveside memorial service is being held at the Mt. Morris Cemetery in Moatsville at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with A. Craig Rotruck officiating. A dinner will follow afterwards at her home.
