KINGWOOD, W.Va. – The Preston High-Lewis County football game slated for Friday in Weston was canceled after an investigation by coaches and the Preston County Board of Education determined a situation involving players warranted disciplinary action.
“We will not be playing football this Friday,” Preston County Superintendent Steve Wotring said. “We received information and conducted an investigation in conjunction with the coach [Jonathan Tennant], the athletics directors [Pam Wilt and Mitch Channel] and the team in my central office [and] we feel that some disciplinary action needs to be taken.”
When asked if the remainder of the season was canceled, Wotring responded, “Incorrect.”
Wotring and other administrators would not comment further and no other information was provided. Preston (0-3) is coming off a 41-0 road loss to Robert C. Byrd last Friday. The Knights are scheduled to return to action with a home game against Woodrow Wilson on Oct. 2.
