Two brothers were arrested for allegedly robbing a man at Morgantown Motel.
Christopher L. Wyckoff, 34, and Ryan Wyckoff, 24, both of Morgantown, are each charged with armed robbery. Ryan is also charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Monongalia County deputies were sent to Morgantown Motel for a fight in the parking lot, according to a criminal complaint. MECCA 911 said deputies were dispatched at 2:39 a.m.
When Deputy C. King arrived, he identified the people involved based on the description from 911, the complaint said.
While investigating the fight, a “large bag” of 855 Alprazolam was found on Ryan, the complaint said.
After being read his rights, Ryan told deputies he went to the hotel looking for a gun that was stolen from him, according to the complaint. Ryan said his brother, Christopher, had a baseball bat and he had a knife when they “barged into” Room 32 and “assaulted and threatened” the victim.
Ryan told deputies the victim took them to his car to look for the gun, where he found the pills and took them until he found his gun, the complaint said. The victim said he was meeting Ryan to buy the pills and that was the reason for the interaction.
An independent witness corroborated the armed robbery and said the brothers took the pills from the victim’s car.
Both brothers were arraigned by Magistrate Tim Pocius and are being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $100,00 bond.
