On Sept. 17, 2020, Ruth Carroll passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, joining her loving husband, Everett Carroll, in their eternal home in Heaven. She was born on Feb. 7, 1933, to Lloyd Wilson and Stella Mae Poling in Grafton.
She is survived by five children, LeeAnn Dean, of Morgantown, Joyce Lake, of Fairmont, Kimberly Norris, of Morgantown, James Carroll, of Morgantown, and Robin (John) Nichols, of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Ian Lake (Mindy Folio), of Fairmont, Alex (Amanda) Lake, of Fairmont, and Meredith Norris, of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Jackson and Hunter Nichols, of Morgantown; and two great-grandchildren, Alyza and Levi Lake, of Fairmont In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Ruth is also survived by her sister, Mildred Weaver, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved immensely.
In addition to her loving husband, Everett Carroll, Ruth is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Lake, and her siblings, Leroy Poling, Theodore Poling, Clyde Poling, Dessie McGrail, Bessie Poling, Jack Poling, Pauline Van Horn, Goldie Deavers, Lila Jardine, Ray Poling and Lloyd Poling.
Ruth’s happiest days were spent on the farm with her family, whom she loved dearly and who already miss her deeply. In addition to her family, Ruth loved her Lord and Savior, and enjoyed serving Him and blessing others. She was also an avid gardener and canner, making the best salsa and tomato soup directly from vegetables from her garden.
Prior to her retirement, Ruth was a bookkeeper at SHOP ‘n SAVE in Westover for over 30 years; working for the Mascioli family whom she loved greatly.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Woodsdale Memorial Park in Grafton at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. Pastor Nate Goodin will be officiating.
