CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and Community and Technical College System offers a series of 20 financial aid webinars for students and families as they prepare for the college-going process.
The series, which began Tuesday and runs through the end of April, will cover general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and updates regarding specific programs including the PROMISE Scholarship, West Virginia Invests, the Higher Education Grant, the Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program, and the Engineering, Science and Technology Scholarship. Financial aid staff will also be available for extended hours to answer questions about the FAFSA on more than a dozen dates between now and the end of the series.
“In a typical year, our staff would be hosting financial aid workshops at high schools across the state between now and the spring. This outreach is critical to ensuring our young people and their families are equipped with every detail they need as they plan for college,” said Sarah Armstrong Tucker, West Virginia’s Chancellor for Higher Education. “Though our outreach looks different this year, we are hopeful that we can reach more people than ever before through these virtual events.
“I encourage our high school students and their loved ones to join us, ask questions, and learn about the numerous programs that make college affordable and accessible in the Mountain State.”
