Edward Kerns

Edward Everett Kerns, 70, of Brookhaven, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 1, 2020, at his residence, following a long illness.

Ed was born Feb. 7, 1950, in Morgantown, a son of the late Everett Blaine and Doris (Lincoln) Kerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Eileen Sims Kerns; his children, April Eader and spouse, Laura Werner and spouse Lindsey Blazis and spouse, Angie Johnson and spouse, Janice Johns and Tracy Hagedorn and spouse; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Barbara Proden, Dallas Kerns, Michael Kerns and Pamela Cale and their spouses; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He loved country music and was a huge NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and spending time with his puppies, Missy and Buddy.

A service to honor Ed’s life will be held at the Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Department, 412 Brookhaven Road, Morgantown at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Haught. Full military honors will be accorded. Following the service, a reception for family and friends will be held.
