Wendy Koon

Wendy A. Strickler Koon, 66, of Cranberry Township, Pa., went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sept. 2, 2020, surrounded by her family. Wendy was born on Sept. 28, 1953, in Wellsburg, the only daughter of the late Mary June Strickler.

Wendy was a graduate of Brooke High School. She was a member of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for 10 years. She loved to bake many goodies which she loved to share with her friends and family and was famous for her “chocolate chip cookies and her Texas sheet cake.” She also loved to make many crafts which she handed out as gifts to her children and grandchildren. She never missed sending cards to her grandkids, great-grandkids and many special children who meant a great deal to her for the holidays and their birthdays.

Wendy is survived by her two daughters, Katrina (William) Smith, of Westover, and Kristie (Stephen) DeVault, of Seven Fields, Pa.; one son, Kevin Koon (and girlfriend Laura Haas), of Westover; six grandchildren, Jared (Delanie) Smith, Joshua (Rachael) Smith, Jessica (Dakota) Cottingham and Garrett, Madison and Zachary DeVault; and four great-grandsons, Richard Smith, Leo Cottingham, Brayzen Hanifan and Bricen Critchfield.

Wendy is also survived by her three brothers, Ted, Bill and Albert Strickler; many cousins; special friend and sister-in-law, Debbie Koon-Friel; and the rest of the extended Koon Family. All who came in contact with Wendy loved her dearly and considered her family.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home 770 Fairmont Road Morgantown, WV 26501 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 and again from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastors Kevin Cain and Scott Pacifico officiating. Due to COVID-19, masks must be worn. Burial will follow at Arnettsville Cemetery.
