Doris Jean Weber Reed Houston, of Suncrest, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at home after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jean was born on Sept. 25, 1945, in Morgantown. She was the daughter of the late Roy Clyde and Arlie Bliss Harris Weber.
Jean was a 1964 graduate of Clay-Battelle. After graduation, she married Carl V. Reed on June 27, 1964. He passed away in 1967. She married her second husband, Raymond E. Houston, in 1968. He passed away in 1994. Jean and Ray resided in Baltimore for several years, where she served in the Salvation Army as a cook for the daycare. When they relocated to Westover, she continued her service with the Salvation Army as a bell ringer.
Jean was a WVU retiree, where she worked in food service at the Mountainlair. She enjoyed cooking, being with family and doing word search puzzles.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Reed and companion, Charles R. Claypool Reed; nine brothers and spouses, Everett and Sharon Weber, of Odessa, Texas, Clyde and Elizabeth Weber, of Casa Grande, Ariz., Robert Weber, of Fairview, John and Linda Weber, of Morgantown, Mike Weber, of Maidsville, Jim and Kay Weber, Gail and Louella Weber, Richard and Thomasine Weber and Howard and Marcie Weber, all from Core; two sisters and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Clarence Lemley, of Core, and Judy Reed, of Miracle Run; three grandsons, Franklin Brown and companion Christine Collins, Kevin Brown and Carl Reed and companion Mandy Gresham; and great-grandchildren, Sonny, Paton, Zander, Jack, Hunter, Jesse, Jacelyn and Linken. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by an infant; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Houston, Sue Weber and Tracy Weber; and two brothers-in-law Bennie Houston and Glenn Reed.
The family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High St., Morgantown, WV 26501 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. Immediately following visitation, a graveside service will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with Jim Weber officiating.
