4-H members share projects with community

Newsroom@DominionPost.com

Although this summer has not gone exactly as planned, 4-H members in Monongalia County were still provided the opportunity to showcase what they learned through their project work.

4-H members sign-up for hobby-based projects at the beginning of each 4-H year and are provided with a project book full of educational activities and lessons that help teach them learn a new skill.

These self-paced project books are available in many different categories, including photography, fishing, leadership, pets, gardening, cooking, rocketry and  hiking. 4-H also has a project book, where members can design their own if they have an interest that is not represented in one of the books.

Once the member has completed the activities, he or she creates an exhibit that is shown annually at the fair so that members of the public can see what they have learned.

4-H members’ exhibits are creative and we love celebrating the amazing things that they create, said WVU Monongalia County 4-H Extension Agent Becca Fint-Clark via a release.

This year, members dropped off their exhibits at the Extension Office and WVU 4-H faculty and staff from Harrison and Preston counties judged the exhibits.

Photos of exhibits and announcements regarding ribbon winners are available for public viewing at  https://extensioncommunity.wvu.edu/exhibits/s/monongalia/page/welcome

Fint-Clark added that organizers encourage the public to visit the website and help  congratulate the youth for their hard work.
